HP Notebook: Fan always runs - the solution
Fans are designed to prevent computers from becoming too hot under load. With HP notebooks, however, it can happen that the fan is always running - even in normal operation. We show how you can ensure peace.
HP Notebook fan always runs - so you solve the problem
If the fan of an HP notebook is always running, this is often due to a setting in the device's BIOS / UEFI. So you have to venture into the deeper settings of your computer. The easiest way to do this is to boot up the notebook with advanced startup options. You can also follow the individual steps in the picture gallery.
- Turn on your computer. Then click on "Restart" via the start menu while holding down the Shift key.
- When starting up again, you will now see a new menu. These are the advanced start options. Navigate to "UEFI Firmware Settings" via "Troubleshooting" -> "Advanced Options". Confirm by clicking on "Restart".
- Your computer will now restart again, but this time it will lead you to a different menu. There you select "Bios Setup". There you go to the "System Configuration" tab. If possible, navigate with the mouse, alternatively use the buttons described in the lower margin.
- Under "System Configuration" you can already see the point that matters: "Fan always on". If this option is enabled, your fan will be forced to operate continuously. So switch to "disabled". Confirm with "Save and Exit", usually the F10 key.
- This means that you have not completely deactivated the fan: in the future, however, it should only switch on when it is really needed. This is usually the case for demanding tasks such as playing games or playing HD videos.
