Reset HTC 10 to factory settings - Here's how
If your HTC 10 no longer works properly or if you want to sell it, you should reset it to factory settings. We show you how to perform a hard reset in the menu or by pressing a key combination.
Reset HTC 10 to factory settings from the menu
If HTC 10 is still responding, you can reset it from Settings:
- Switch from the home screen to the app overview and open the Settings app.
- Tap "Backup and reset".
- Then select the "Reset to factory settings" option.
- If you want, you can now delete the data from your SD card.
- Finally, confirm that you agree to the deletion of your data.
HTC 10: hard reset by key combination
If your smartphone stops responding, you can reset it using a key combination:
- Turn off the smartphone by long pressing the [Power] button.
- Then press and hold the [Power] and [Volume Down] buttons for a few seconds until the HTC logo appears on the screen.
- In the following "download mode" menu, use the volume keys to select the "Reboot to recovery mode" item and confirm with the [Power] key.
- As soon as the mobile phone symbol appears, hold down the [Power] key and additionally press the [Volume Up] key once.
- In the next menu, select "wipe data / factory reset" and confirm with the [Power] button.
- Confirm with "Yes - delete all user data".
- Finally choose "reboot system now".
