Set up HTC One - the most important settings
If you've purchased a new HTC One, you'll need to set it up after you start it up for the first time. We show you the most important points that you have to consider.
Set up HTC One: transfer old data
- After starting for the first time, selecting the language and setting up the first internet connection, you can transfer data such as contacts, photos and settings to your new HTC smartphone using the HTC transfer tool provided.
- Here you have the choice whether you have an HTC mobile phone, an Android smartphone from another manufacturer, an iPhone or a Windows or Blackberry device.
- Depending on the type of device, the transfer works more or less precisely and easily.
HTC One Setup: Set up an account
- Next, you can set up an HTC account, which acts as a backup for your files. However, you do not have to create an account and can still do this later.
- It is highly recommended that you create or log in with a Google account. In addition to Gmail and other Google services, this gives you access to the Play Store, where you can find and download all the relevant apps.
- If necessary, a Dropbox account is also set up here, which can bring additional storage space. Here you will also find basic settings, such as whether every photo taken on your new HTC smartphone should be uploaded to the cloud.
Homescreen setup: The headquarters of the new HTC One
- After completing the transfer tool, setting up an account and naming the smartphone, you will be taken to the home screen for the first time, which HTC has expanded with some features.
- Swipe left to get to your "blink feed". It is a constant, personalized stream of news, news, social networks and news. You can further personalize this according to your interests. However, it is difficult to switch it off.
- To add widgets and the like to the home screens, tap and hold a free space on the respective screen. A menu opens in which you can place new widgets on the small home screens shown above from the bottom of the screen. With a long click on these thumbnails you can also determine which page is displayed as the start screen and, if necessary, delete pages completely.
