HTC One: Forgot unlock pattern - what to do?
If you have forgotten your unlock pattern on HTC One, there are several possible solutions. We show you exactly what you have to do.
1. Delete HTC One unlock pattern
You can try to delete your pattern. However, this is only permitted with your own smartphone and USB debugging must be activated for this.
- First download the Android SDK to your PC.
- Connect your smartphone to the PC, open the Windows command prompt with [Windows key] + [R] and enter "cmd".
- Use "cd" to navigate to the "platform-tools" folder. Example: "cd C: \ android \ platform-tools" if the folder is stored in drive "C".
- Execute the following commands one after the other: "adb remount"> "adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key".
- After that, the pattern is deleted and you can unlock the device with any pattern.
Option 2: Reset HTC to factory settings
Note: This method deletes all data on the smartphone.
- Turn off your HTC One.
- Press and hold the volume up and power buttons simultaneously.
- Navigate to the "Factory Reset" item using the volume up and volume down buttons.
- Confirm this with "yes" and the power button.
- After a restart, all data on the smartphone is deleted and your smartphone can be used without an unlock pattern.
