HTC One M9: Change battery - how it works
The HTC One M9 is HTC's former flagship. After a certain period of use, the battery can break down. This practical tip shows you how to change it.
HTC One M9 battery replacement: the preparations
In order for the battery to be replaced without any problems, you have to make some preparations.
- The device must first be switched off and the SIM card slot removed.
- For materials to change the battery you need a hot air dryer, a spatula, tweezers and a screwdriver.
HTC One M9 battery change: The removal of the old battery
After all preparations have been completed, you can start with the actual battery change.
- At the beginning, grab a hot air dryer and heat the device from behind and on the sides. It should be about warm enough that you can just touch it.
- Then take the spatula and carefully try to separate the display from the edge of the device. To do this, you have to use the spatula to reach the gap between the display and the frame in several places and carefully push the display upwards. You should start with the upper housing frame, then on one of the two sides.
- Once the back is separated from the rest of the device, the rest is easier to handle.
- Use tweezers to remove the three adhesive strips that you see on the right and left edge of the housing.
- Now you can start with the screwdriver and remove the screws on the lower frame of the device. In total there are five screws.
- Now hook the tweezers under the black elongated device on the left side of the device and pull them down as far as possible.
- You can then use the tweezers to remove the adhesive tape that appears underneath and pull it down.
- Now use the screwdriver to loosen the two screws that have become visible under the.
- On the lower left edge of the device you will now see a metal strip that you can also fold down. In the lower left corner of the device there should now be three "layers" of different strips.
- Also remove the stuck metal strip on the right edge of the device and pull it down.
- Then it is time to loosen the screws again: This time in the upper part of the device, a total of two - one centrally, one on the right side.
- Then you can carefully start to push the metal cover of the battery upwards from the lower longitudinal edge. It can be a bit difficult. However, the further the casing comes out of the holder, the easier it is to remove it from the device.
- If you have removed the cover so far that it is perpendicular to you, reach for the spatula and carefully push the battery underneath upwards and out of the device. The same applies here: the battery is firmly glued. You need calm, patience, and strength to remove it from HTC One M9. In addition, the battery is fixed with an adhesive strip on the right side, so you must also remove it before the battery can be removed from the device.
HTC One M9 battery replacement: Insert the new battery
Of course, you should already have got a new battery. After successfully removing the defective old battery, it is now inserted in the HTC One M9.
- The new battery must first be placed in the device. Make sure that the corresponding contacts are correctly aligned and that the battery is inserted the right way round. So that the markings can be found on the right side when you have the device with the USB connection facing down in front of you.
- Press the battery a little bit so that it will hold securely later.
- You can then press the metal cover down again and fix it in the left and right corner so that it sits straight. Then press it firmly and screw in the two removed screws in the upper part of the back.
- The metal strip on the right-hand side can now be folded up again and attached next to the metal cover of the battery in the recess provided.
- Do the same with the three metal strips on the left. First bend the top one back and screw it tight. Then it is the next one, which is attached to the device again with the adhesive strip attached to it. The third strip is also bent back and also fixed in the corresponding recess using an adhesive strip.
- Now you can also stick the three adhesive strips removed at the beginning on the left and right side of the device.
- Finally, reattach the removed screws.
- Check that all parts are secure and firm before reattaching the back.
- If this test is passed, the back can be glued back to the rest of the device. Simply press the display as hard as possible on the back and make sure that it closes with the frame.
- If the device works properly after inserting the SIM card slot and restarting, the battery replacement has worked.
