Open HTC One S - Here's how
If the battery of HTC One S is broken or other components are defective, you can open and repair the smartphone yourself. We'll show you what you need and how it works.
Open HTC One S: the right tool
- You don't really need much to open HTC One S. The right tool is not found in normal artisan needs.
- You can find numerous cell phone repair kits on Amazon. The sets differ mainly only in the accessories.
- Each screw that you remove from HTC One S should then return to its original place. Therefore, make a small sketch or use an alternative system with which you can keep a good overview.
Step 1: open HTC One S.
Note: The following instructions are based on the EU model of HTC One S. Devices sold outside the EU differ slightly in some respects.
- First, turn your HTC One S off completely. Place a cloth or similar under the smartphone so that the display is not scratched.
- Take the triangular plastic pick and carefully slide it at the bottom of the microphone hole between the front and back of the HTC.
- Push the pick slightly to the side in the gap and the cover will come loose. You can also use this technology for the cover on the top of HTC One S.
- At the top of the smartphone you will find four screws under the cover. You will find two screws below. Remove the screws with the appropriate screwdriver.
- Remove the plastic cover below and run the pick between the display and the housing. If there is a gap everywhere, you can remove the back cover.
Step 2: repair open HTC One S.
- HTC One S is now open. If you unscrew the last screw on the top right of the device, you can remove the plastic cover around the camera.
- The circuit board, the mainboard, is now completely free. Loosen the last screw on the mainboard at the bottom left.
- Take a plastic tool of your choice and open the three toggle switches at the bottom right of the mainboard. Such a toggle switch can also be found in the center below.
- If you push the switch up carefully, you can remove the flat cables from their position.
- If you still disconnect the cable between the battery and mainboard, you can remove both components from HTC One S.
- Note: Reassemble the smartphone, making sure that each screw comes back to its original place.
