HTML framework: This is the basic structure
Every website in HTML is structured according to a certain basic structure. We explain which structure you need to create before you can really get started.
HTML framework: A website consists of these parts
Every primitive HTML5 website is divided into four identical parts:
- In the first line you tell the browser which document type it has to process. The easiest way to do this is with "" (see screenshot). You can only have your document automatically validated if you specify this line.
- The tag is for the current HTML version 5. The advantage of this is that it is extremely short and simple. It also means that you can still use old code in HTML4.
- Then follow the tags in which you embed all other code:.
- Then the head follows. There you can note all metadata on the page. As examples you can see in the screenshot the title, character set, a short description and the reference to a CSS file.
- The heart follows on your side, the body. Between these tags, you program everything you would like to display on the website later. For example, you could greet your visitors with a greeting:
CHIP greets all visitors to this page!
, - In our example image this area is kept empty. At this point you have to take action.
Now you know how to build a website in principle. You could now implement a survey in your body with checkboxes or dropdown menus. We'll show you how this works in other practical tips.
