Huawei Honor 6 vs. OnePlus One: a comparison of top smartphones
Smartphone vs smartphone: With the OnePlus One and the Huawei Honor 6, two top-of-the-range phones are currently on the market at a low price. In this article we show you how the two devices compare in a direct comparison.
Huawei Honor 6 vs. OnePlus One: design and workmanship
- The One from OnePlus comes with an innovation: instead of the usual plastic or aluminum backing, the One has a sandstone back. It feels rough and very valuable and is available in matt black or white. The rest of the frame is made of high quality plastic.
- The Honor 6 is in a plastic case, but doesn't feel cheap and is comfortable to hold.
- In terms of size, the One moves in an area that makes it impossible to operate with one hand. The display measures 5.5 inches diagonally.
- The Honor 6 is also comparatively large, it has a 5-inch screen. So you can just use it with one hand.
Honor 6 with a better camera
- Both smartphones have a front camera for video calls, which has a resolution of 5 megapixels. This enables pin-sharp images for your conversation partner.
- When it comes to the camera, the OnePlus One loses out: Although the camera has 13 megapixels, the One has little to do with it. Sharp pictures are a rarity; in low light conditions, even the flash does nothing.
- The Honor 6, however, can convince in terms of camera. With 13 megapixels, it shoots sharp, true-to-color images in daylight.
- Both smartphones are equipped with full HD screens. The One has to distribute the pixels on the larger screen, but at 1080 x 1920 pixels this is not noticeable.
OnePlus One vs. Huawei Honor 6: performance and battery
- The Oneplus One is equipped with the Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 and 3 GB of RAM. This ensures a fast pace of work, but small stutters still occur here and there.
- The Honor 6 is equipped with Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 920 CPU and 3 GB of RAM. The system runs without stutters, but apps sometimes open a little slowly.
- Both smartphones are equipped with a 3, 100 mAh battery. The Honor 6 achieved a whopping 10:16 hours of talk time in our test, the One also managed a very respectable 9:39 hours.
One vs. Honor 6: operating system and network technology
- The OnePlus One has LTE support, but the frequency around 800 MHz is missing. As a Telekom customer, you don't have an LTE with the One in the country, in the O2 network you can expect failures everywhere.
- The Honor 6, on the other hand, does not compromise on LTE support.
- Both smartphones run an Android version. The One comes with Android 4.4. and a customized version of CyanogenMod. This gives you a lot of different options for personalization compared to the normal Android system.
- The Honor 6 offers Android 4.4.2 with the new EMUI UI 3.0. The operating system looks like a mixture of iOS 8 and Android 5.0, which gives the smartphone a cool look.
Conclusion and price: two cheap top smartphones in comparison
- The two top smartphones are on the same level in some respects: performance and battery take nothing, the screen resolution is the same and the operating system is based on Android 4.4.
- The One knows how to convince with the sandstone back, but it does worse on the camera.
- Another shortcoming of the One is the missing 800-band for LTE reception.
- The price of the two devices is about the same. The Honor 6 is available with 16 GB of memory for around 300 euros.
- The OnePlus One is available in the 16 GB version for 249 euros, the 64 GB version costs 299 euros. At these prices, you can only buy the device directly from OnePlus. In other shops, the device with 16 GB costs 400 euros, the 64 GB version costs around 460 euros.
