Reset Hue lamp from Philips: Here's how
If you want to connect your Phillips Hue lamp to a new bridge or other systems, you must first reset the lamp. We'll show you how it's done.
Reset Philips Hue lamp by remote control
There are different ways to reset the Hue lamps from Philips to the factory settings, but not all of them are easy to implement. The free software "LampStealer" is no longer supported by current lamps, direct access via JavaScript is extremely cumbersome. The easiest way to do this is to use a compatible remote control.
- Use a Living Colors remote control, press and hold the power button and the first favorite button simultaneously for 5 seconds. These are the [I] and [.] Keys.
- Use the Hue Dimmer Switch, press and hold the on and off button for 5 seconds.
- The Hue lamp is reset to the factory settings when the lamp lights up briefly. If the reset does not work, get as close as possible to the lamp with the remote control.
Reset Philips Hue lamp conveniently via app
If there is a connection between the Hue lamp and the Hue Bridge, you can also reset the lamp via the app. You can get the app here for iOS and Android.
- Select the category "My lamps" in the "Settings". Under "Connect new lights" you will find the "Manual search".
- Enter the serial number of the Philips Hue lamp here and tap on "Search". The lamp is now reset to the factory settings.
- If the lamp lights up, disconnect it directly from the power. Otherwise the lamp sets up again with the bridge.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to control your Philips Hue on the go.
