Install Hyper-V - Here's how
Windows has had its own virtualization software since Windows 8. This practical tip shows you how to install Hyper-V.
Hyper-V: Installation of the Windows service
With Windows 8.1, Windows Virtual PC was replaced by the new Hyper-V. Hyper-V allows you to run multiple operating systems with either 32bit or 64bit at the same time. However, you may have to stop the service first.
- To do this, open the Control Panel and then click Programs.
- Now select "Programs and Features" and then click on "Activate or deactivate Windows features". You need administrator rights for this step.
- Check Hyper-V.
- To complete the activation of the Hyper-V service, restart your PC by clicking on "Start", "On / Off" and finally on "Restart".
- After the new start you can start and use Hyper-V via the start menu.
