Create hyperlink in Word
With one click on the Internet - you can also create such hyperlinks in Word documents. But not only links to the Internet are possible, but also to a file, for example. We'll show you how it works.
How to create hyperlinks in Word
- First select the text to be linked to the hyperlink. Then right-click on it and open "Hyperlink" in the context menu.
- Now you can use the first button "File or Website" to create a link to a specific website or to a file that is on your computer (see picture).
- The second button "Current document" enables a cross-reference within the document. This is useful, for example, in the table of contents of longer texts to get to a specific chapter.
- If you want to refer to your own document that you have not yet created, you can do so via "Create new document" here. You should definitely change the file path here in order to find the document again.
- With the last button "E-Mail address" you can integrate a mail function. In addition to the recipient address, you can also specify a subject. If you send the finished Word document as a PDF, for example, readers can respond to you with one click by email.
The marked text with hyperlink now has a blue font color and is underlined. If you press [Ctrl] + [K] and click the link in Word, you can also open it yourself in the browser.
