Sync iBooks: how it works
You can synchronize your purchases from iBooks with multiple devices. For this, the same Apple ID must be used on all devices. In this guide, you’ll learn how syncing works for iBooks.
Sync iBooks via Mac OS
You can easily synchronize your books, notes and bookmarks from iBooks between your devices such as iPhone, iPad or Macbook. For synchronization, iOS6 or later must be installed on your iOS devices and on your Mac OS X Mavericks.
- Start iBooks on your Mac.
- Click on "Library" in the start window.
- Now all the books are displayed that you have purchased via iBooks on one of your iOS devices or another Mac computer.
- If you don't see all of your purchased books, click View> View iCloud Purchases in the Apple system tray.
- Now click on the cloud icon in the cover of an object to download it to your Mac.
- If you also want to sync bookmarks or tags, click iBooks> Settings> General on the Apple system tray, and check the box next to Sync Sync Bookmarks, Tags, and Collections to Devices.
iOS and iBooks synchronization
On your iOS devices, the synchronization of iBooks content works in a similar way:
- Start the iBooks app on your iOS device.
- Open your library here.
- Now press "Books" in the middle of the screen and select "Purchased Books". Now all the books that can be synchronized are displayed.
- The download to your iOS device is started by touching the cloud.
- To synchronize bookmarks or collections, press "Settings"> "iBooks" in the home screen and select the option "Synchronize bookmarks" and "Synchronize collections".
Please note that some purchases are automatically synchronized. If these do not appear automatically, just follow the instructions. In the next practical tip, you will learn how to mark text and make notes in iBooks.
