Show iCloud files in Finder - Here's how
Use this little trick to display your iCloud files on your Mac in the Finder.
View iCloud files on Mac
Actually, files that you save in iCloud can only be viewed with the programs or apps that you use to store them there. But: OS X also backs up the content of your iCloud locally on your hard drive.
- Open the "Go to" menu in the Finder.
- Press the [Alt] key so that the invisible menu item "Library" appears and click on it while holding down the [Alt] key.
- Open the "Mobile Documents" folder in the library. Here you will find the entire content of your iCloud sorted by folder.
- At the end of each folder name you will find the name of the application with which you created the files.
- If you always want to conveniently display the content of your iCloud in the Finder without going through the library every time, it is best to create a link in your Finder favorites.
- To do this, simply push the "Mobile Documents" folder into the side bar and hold it down at the desired position.
- Now you have quick access to your iCloud documents from anywhere in the Finder.
Caution: You should never save, rename, or modify the file path. Because changes that you make manually are not synchronized by OS X.
- If you change the files, you could even lose them in the worst case.
