The photo stream is part of iCloud and ensures the synchronization of your pictures between your iOS devices. For example, if you take a picture on your iPhone, it will be uploaded to your iCloud and will appear on all your Apple devices that have photo stream activated as soon as they are connected to the Internet via WiFi.
iCloud: How to enable Photo Stream on iOS
- Open the "Settings" app and select the category "Photos & Camera".
- Activate the "My Photo Stream" option here. This will activate the function on your iOS device.
- You can also activate the "iCloud Photo Library". So your pictures are not only transferred to other devices, but also saved online in the cloud.
- Then connect your iOS device to a WLAN so that the photo stream can be used.
iCloud: This is how the photo stream works in practice
To use the photo stream, you have to open the "Photos" app. Each photo stream has a limit, which is the maximum age of the image of 30 days, the number of 1, 000 images and the maximum storage capacity of the iCloud. If the images in your stream exceed one of these conditions, they will be deleted from the photo stream.
- Open the "Photos" app on your iOS device. Here you will find a new album called "My Photo Stream". There are all the pictures that are currently saved in your photo stream.
- If an image is only in the photo stream, but not on the respective device, you can save the image locally if you wish. Simply select the photo you want.
- Unfortunately, existing streams from your mobile device cannot be added to the stream, this can only be done using a Mac or PC. Only newly shot or saved images end up in the photo stream.
- You also have the option to create additional photo streams and then share them with your friends. You can find out how to set up such a photo stream in our separate practical tip.
- If you delete individual pictures from the photo stream, the photos are only removed on the device on which you carried out the action. The images are still visible on all other devices.
- If you deactivate the photo stream again in the settings, all photo streams will be deleted. If you activate the function again later, a completely new photo stream will be created.
