If you have the iCloud status displayed in Apple's iTunes, you will see various texts in the music library. In this practical tip, we explain what these notes mean.
Apple iTunes - meaning of the texts in iCloud status
Different texts can be displayed in the iCloud Status column. We have summarized what lies behind the messages for you.
- Matched: If this text appears in the status column behind a title, it means that the song was either matched with iTunes Match or with Apple Music.
- Apple Music: This status message indicates that you have added the song from the Apple Music catalog.
- Removed: This status indicates that the track has been deleted from the iCloud music library. However, it is still saved on the computer.
- Do not transfer: This text means that you have added a song from your iOS device - such as your iPhone - from the iCloud music library. If you are currently sitting on your computer, it is not stored there and cannot be transferred to it.
- Transfer: This status message shows that the title has been transferred from a CD to the iCloud music library, for example.
- Inappropriate: If this status is displayed, the song can either not be added to your iCloud music library - or your computer is not authorized to play this song. Possible reasons for this message are that the music file is larger than 200 MB or the playback time is longer than two hours. In addition, this status appears whenever the song was purchased with a different Apple ID or not in the iTunes Store.
- Wait: This status message is actually self-explanatory. The song has not yet been processed and is waiting to be transferred to your music library in iCloud.
We will show you how to deactivate the iCloud music library in our next practical tip.
