If you are using a newer device from Apple, you automatically have the iCloud.
- Apple's iCloud works as a universal storage for contacts, notes and data that you purchase on the device via the Apple Store.
- Once you sign in with your Apple ID, you get 5 GB of free storage for email and photos. In Germany, you pay up to EUR 20 a month for one terabyte of additional storage.
- The iCloud app is preinstalled on your Apple device. You can share the data with up to 6 family members.
- If you want to use iCloud without iDevice, there is web-based access. You get one gigabyte of free storage.
- Similar to GoogleDrive, you can use iCloud Office-like programs like Keynote, Pages and Numbers and synchronize the data between your devices.
- The iCloud online storage is suitable for anyone who has at least one Apple device and whose data you want to transfer to other hardware.
- An advantage of iCloud is that you can locate your device via the web access if it is lost.
Dropbox: The online storage for your mobile devices
In contrast to the iCloud, the Dropbox is not specialized in an operating system, but is aimed at all common interfaces.
- You can integrate a Dropbox folder into your system and use it like a normal directory. Alternatively, log in to their homepage or use the app.
- You get two gigabytes of memory for free. Depending on whether you use the cloud for private or business purposes, you pay between 10 and 12 euros per month for more storage. All you need to register is your email address.
- Dropbox does not offer any special software such as GoogleDrive or the iCloud.
- If you want to share a file with someone else, send a link.
- The Dropbox is particularly worthwhile for people who work with different operating systems.
