If you want to establish a connection to other Macs via the Internet from your Mac, you can do this via the iCloud function "Access to my Mac". This practical tip shows you how to set this up.
iCloud - Set up “Access to my Mac”
To connect two Mac computers via iCloud, at least OS x Lion must be installed on both Macs. However, the cloud only works up to Mac OS High Sierra. In addition, both Macs must be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID.
- On all Mac computers that you want to connect, you need to set up “Access to my Mac”.
- To do this, open the "System Settings" and select "iCloud" here. Sign in to iCloud with your Apple ID.
- Then select "Access my Mac". You will be guided through the individual setup steps.
- You can then optionally specify the desired security settings for access.
- You can then view the shared Macs in the Finder. To do this, call up the "Settings" of the Finder and select "Sidebar".
- Under "Share" select "Access to my Mac".
- Now open a Finder window, click on the item "Shares" in the sidebar and then on "Show".
