Change icons on Mac - Here's how
Do you want to change the program icons on your Mac? We show you how it works:
Change icons on Macbook / iMac
In addition to the icons in the dock, you can change all other program icons directly. The dock icons are automatically changed because they are only a link to the programs and directories.
- Open the Finder and search for the directory or program whose icon you want to change. You mark this with a simple click.
- Open the information window. To do this, either press the key combination [cmd] + [i] or right-click on the marked object to select the "Information" option from the context menu.
- Drag the new icon onto the small icon in the top left of the information box. As soon as a small white "+" appears in a green circle, simply release the mouse button. The new icon is now assigned. If you want to restore the original icon, just press [cmd] + [x].
Icons don't change
Normally, the edited icon is also changed in the dock at the same time. If the change does not happen immediately, try the following:
- Click on the relevant icon in the dock. Programs may need to be restarted.
- Log out and back in to the system, or restart your Mac.
- Reboot your Mac.
