ICQ registration without registration: is that possible?
Unfortunately, you cannot chat with ICQ completely without registration. However, you don't necessarily need an email address to register. Registration also works with your cell phone number or via your Facebook account. You can log in directly to your Facebook account at www.icq.com. Simply click on the "Chat with friends" button at the bottom right and select "Login with Facebook". We'll show you how to use ICQ with your cell phone number here.
ICQ registration with the cell phone number
If you don't want to register with ICQ, simply use your Facebook account to log in. If you do not have a Facebook account or do not want to connect ICQ to it, log in with your cell phone number instead.
- Open the ICQ website and click on "Join ICQ".
- Enter your first and last name and your cell phone number here. The name doesn't have to be your real one.
- With a click on »Request SMS code« ICQ immediately sends you an SMS on your cell phone. Enter the number contained there on the following page. Keep the SMS code carefully, you also need it to start accessing the chat.
- Now you can optionally upload a profile photo, enter additional data or start the chat directly.
- Now log on to www.icq.com (top right) or on your cell phone with your cell phone number and the SMS code. If you have installed ICQ on your computer, this type of account can also be used there.
Web access instead of ICQ download
Once registration is complete, you are free to use ICQ on the homepage or to download the program. In contrast to the web version, the installed program can also send and receive files.
- You can download the ICQ Messenger free of charge and install it on your computer. This has the advantage that you can start Messenger directly without opening the website.
- If you do not want to install ICQ on your computer or if the computer is used by several people, Web-ICQ is recommended. To do this, click on "Start" on the ICQ homepage under Web-ICQ and log in to the new window.
Incidentally, ICQ is also available as a mobile version as an app - for Android and iOS, for example.
