Your Netflix account is blocked: you need to know this about the fraudulent emails
Netflix users have recently been reaching fraudulent emails warning that the account will be blocked. We have summarized everything you need to know about the mails in this article.
Fraudulent mail: Your suspension notification - Will the Netflix account be blocked?
The pishing email is currently only in English, but it is possible that a German version will follow.
- Fraudsters are currently sending fake emails to Netflix users threatening to lock their account if payment information is not reactivated within 48 hours.
- To do this, the recipient should click on a link in the mail. This leads to a fake website that looks exactly like the Netflix log-in page. If you enter your access data here, you will be asked for your address and payment details. All data ends up with the fraudsters.
- The mail is a comparatively good counterfeit that cannot be exposed immediately. For example, the recipient is addressed by name in the greeting. However, if you look closely, you can discover clues.
- If you move the mouse over the sender, you will see the actual email address of the sender. Usually a foreign address is used. You can also display the addresses behind the links in the mail by moving your mouse over them. Don't go to the original Netflix site if you don't click on it.
- In general, Netflix does not email its users to update their data. If you receive such an email, you should become suspicious and if in doubt ask Netflix support.
On the next page we will show you how you can identify pishing emails.
