IKEA: return assembled furniture - how it works
If the IKEA furniture that has already been installed does not match your furnishings, you can return the cupboard, sofa, etc. within one year. We'll show you how it's done.
IKEA: This is how you can return furniture that has already been set up
In August 2014, IKEA started the lifelong return policy. Almost all IKEA products purchased after August 25, 2014 should still be returnable after several years.
- Since 2016, the right of return has only been valid for one year. You therefore only have 365 days to return a piece of furniture without giving a reason. The lifelong right of return no longer applies.
- On September 1, 2018, the return guarantee was further limited. It now only applies to new, unused goods. However, this no longer has to be in the original packaging.
- For this reason, furniture that you have set up at home and then did not use can be returned up to one year after purchase. It is important that you deliver them to the furniture store without damage.
- All you need for the return is the associated receipt or the invoice.
- If you do not want to or cannot dismantle the assembled piece of furniture, you can also bring it back in its current condition. Show your voucher, you can transfer the money or have it paid out in cash.
- If you only set up furniture and cabinets a few days or weeks ago, you have the legal right of return either way.
