Have you won an Ikea voucher by email and are you looking forward to redeeming it? In this practical tip, you can read how you can tell whether it is a fake message.
Ikea voucher: recognize fake - how it works
Of course you would like to take a second look at the opportunity to shop at the Swedish furniture store for 300 euros or 500 euros. However, Ikea has nothing to do with this voucher for several hundred euros:
- First of all, you should always be taken aback when an alleged profit flutters into the house. So far you have not been an Ikea customer or have never given the company your email address? Then you should immediately throw the message in the trash.
- Bad spelling also indicates spam.
- If you click on the links in the mail, you will be redirected to a website. Using the URL, you can determine that you have not landed on the Ikea homepage. You can see from this alone that this is not a serious message.
- You will now be asked to answer a few questions to receive your voucher.
- Of course, your personal data such as name, date of birth, address or email will also be requested.
- You will also be asked to call a 0900 number. The cost of this call is 1.99 euros per minute.
- It is best to delete mails with such content immediately. Especially if you receive the gift out of the blue without having previously registered anywhere.
In the next practical tip you will learn how you can also recognize other spam mails.
