Unused batteries stay fresh longer in the refrigerator
To extend the life of your notebook battery, you can store it in the refrigerator when you are not using it. We will show you how to optimally care for and store batteries.
Store notebook batteries in the refrigerator
- Many manufacturers recommend charging the battery to a maximum of 80 percent and then storing it separately from the notebook in a cool place - ideally between +4 and +10 degrees Celsius.
- Protected against condensation (for example in a freezer bag), it is best to place batteries in the fridge. A warmer environment reduces the charge by around 10 percent per month.
- When stored in a notebook, batteries even lose around 15 percent a day - without you using it.
- The energy packs feel most comfortable in operation at room temperature (20 to 25 degrees).
- The lithium-ion or polymer batteries used in almost all notebooks are very tough. It can hardly be too cold for them - but it can be too warm. Exposing a Li-Ion battery to a temperature above 35 degrees Celsius for several days will cause irreparable damage. So never leave your notebook in the blazing sun. Some notebook manufacturers even switch off the batteries for protection at more than 60 degrees.
