iMessage for Android: does it exist?
In this practical tip, we explain whether iMessage is also available as an app for Android.
iMessage: Is this available for Android?
- iMessage is not currently an official Android app. It is a service that has been deeply integrated into the Apple system. With some older iOS versions, the detour was principally possible via a Cydia app on jailbroken iOS devices. However, this is a complicated and unsafe method that cannot be expressly recommended.
- Do not install third-party apps that allow iMessage to be used on Android. These may be viruses or spy software that read your data or infect your phone with harmful files.
- If you are switching from an iOS device to Android and have previously used iMessage, you should deactivate the Apple service. Otherwise there may be problems when receiving and sending SMS.
In the next practical tip, we will clarify the question of whether iMessage can be used under Windows.
