iMovie does not start - you can do that
iMovie is the standard video editing program for Mac. If the program does not start, there is still no reason to despair - we will tell you in our practical tip what you can do about it.
iMovie does not start - what to do?
In order for iMovie to function properly again, you should follow the steps below:
- You can try using the Disk Utility to repair access rights.
- In some cases it can help if you move the contents of the "Video" folder to any other folder, as possibly damaged projects prevent iMovie from starting.
- Try creating a new user to start the tool with. There may be problems with the current user profile.
- Or there is a problem with iMovie's settings. Change to the directory "~ / Library / Preferences /" and delete the file "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist file" and "com.apple.iApps.plist file". You should then empty the trash.
- Alternatively, you can delete the iMovie settings by holding down the [alt] + [cmd] keys when starting iMovie.
- An update for iMovie may also be available to address this issue. To do this, click on the Apple logo and select "Software Update".
- If you cannot solve the problem, you should reset the system with the Time Machine.
