iMovie: Create zoom effects - how it works
In this practical tip, we will show you how to create a zoom effect in iMovie.
Create zoom effect in iMovie
- So that the photos in your video do not play like a classic slide show, you can set a so-called Ken Burns effect in iMovie.
- This effect simulates a certain movement of the camera during the demonstration of your pictures, which simulates a kind of zoom and thus gives your presentation more dynamism.
- To do this, start iMovie and open your project with the desired still images that you want to add a zoom effect.
- Next, select any image and click the little black arrow next to the gear icon. Click on the "Crop" -> "Ken-Burn" -> "Rotate" functions at the bottom.
- Your picture will have a green start frame and a red end frame in the upper right corner of the preview window.
- Via the frame corners you now have the possibility to change the frame sizes and at the same time to determine the strength of the zoom effect. You can also use the cursor gripping hand to move the frames anywhere in the image, which allows you to zoom in and out of the photos. Finally, click "Done" to save your settings.
- If the zoom effect is too strong or too weak for you, you can change it at any time.
