Vaccination certificate lost: what to do?
The vaccination card is an important document that lists all the vaccinations you have received. If you have lost it, you can have a new vaccination certificate issued.
Vaccination certificate lost - so do the right thing
If you have lost the document, you can have your family doctor issue a new vaccination certificate.
- It is advantageous if this doctor gave you the vaccinations. These are then noted in your patient's file, which the doctor must keep for ten years.
- However, only the doctor who has undertaken in his practice may enter vaccinations.
- If you have changed your family doctor, you must ask your old doctor to send the documents with the necessary information to your new family doctor.
- Maybe you have already been vaccinated, for example against tetanus, and did not have your vaccination certificate with you. In this case you have received a certificate of vaccination.
- With this proof, you can have the vaccination entered in the vaccination certificate by your health department.
- If you can no longer remember all the vaccinations or if the vaccinations can no longer be traced, you should get a new vaccination.
- A blood test could tell you which vaccinations have already been carried out. However, this is quite expensive.
- There is no health risk if you vaccinate twice or refresh earlier than necessary. In this respect, it makes sense to carry out the vaccinations again if necessary.
- Ask your doctor about this.
