The Inbox Toolbar promises you quick access to many information sources. What sounds good to you at first glance is actually a disadvantage for you. We show you how to get rid of the toolbar.
Remove Inbox Toolbar completely
Applications like the Inbox Toolbar are so-called browser hijackers. This means that the program changes your surfing experience to your disadvantage. For example, your homepage will be changed or you will be redirected to advertising pages with additional malware. You can remove the pest as follows:
- Open the Windows Control Panel and look for the Inbox toolbar.
- Then uninstall the application using the right-click menu. You should also take this opportunity to remove other programs that were recently installed, but are new to you.
- Now download the AdwCleaner tool from the Chip download portal.
- Install the program and carry out a complete system check. Adwcleaner scans your system for remnants of adware and other malware.
- Then restart your computer.
Examine browser links
It is not uncommon for browser hijackers to manipulate the links for the browser start. However, you must examine these yourself:
- Right-click on the link to your browser (e.g. Chrome or Firefox) and click on "Properties".
- Switch to the "Link" tab and click in the "Target" field.
- Navigate to the end of the link text, this should end with ".exe" (see screenshot). Otherwise delete all entries afterwards and confirm with "OK".
- Repeat the procedure for all other browsers that you are using.
Reset browser profiles
You should reset it so that you can really be sure that nothing of the malware remains in your browser. Here are the instructions for:
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Internet Explorer
