InDesign: Targeting transparency - the best tips
Adobe InDesign offers numerous design options - for example, transparency can also be used to make projects even more interesting. In this article, we'll tell you how to use transparencies.
This is how you can use transparency in InDesign
If you want to work with transparency in InDesign, you don't need a lot of knowledge - the settings for individual objects or groups can be changed very quickly. Simply follow the steps below:
- In Windows, the transparency settings can be opened using the key combination [Shift] + [Ctrl] + [F10]. Alternatively, you can also access them via "Window" and then "Effects".
- Now you can regulate the opacity for individual objects or object groups from 0 to 100 percent. Texts, contours, surfaces can be changed individually. They don't have to be adjusted in the same way.
- You can add different object effects to the selected object in the same window. For example, there are the fields "drop shadow", "gloss" or "glow inwards" - here, too, you can individually set the opacity of the individual options.
- There is the possibility of using a so-called "global light". This is how you create a uniform lighting angle for all transparency effects in your file. You will also find this option in the effects window, in the top right corner.
