Ingress: How to collect experience points (AP)
Ingress is all about collecting experience points to increase your level. Because with a higher level you can use stronger items, which in turn give your own faction an advantage.
So you get experience points
These actions bring you experience points:
- Hacking an enemy portal will earn you 100 AP, neutral or friendly portals will not give you experience points.
- Upload a portal and get 10 AP.
- If you place the first resonator on a portal, you will receive 500 AP. The last resonator brings 250 AP, the others 125 AP each.
- Upgrading your own resonator does not give you experience points; for other resonators, this gives 65 AP.
- Link two portals to get 313 AP.
- If you set up a control field, you will receive an additional 1250 experience points.
- A destroyed resonator brings 75 AP, a destroyed link brings 187 AP, a destroyed control field brings 750 AP.
The experience points (AP) should not be confused with the Exotic Matter, XM for short, which you need for every action in Ingress. Collect the XM with your game client as you walk around the area. The higher your level, the more XM you can collect.
