Preparing ginger - you should know that
- For cooking, you should peel the ginger.
- For a particularly intense aroma, grate the ginger before using it in dishes.
- The longer ginger cooks, the more taste it loses. It is best not to add it until the end of the cooking time.
- For the preparation of tea, it is enough to briefly wash off the root and cut it into slices without peeling.
Homemade ginger tea
Fresh ginger tea warms and helps with colds.
- Place 10 thinly sliced ginger slices in a saucepan.
- Add a liter of water and let everything boil for ten minutes.
- Then pour the tea through a sieve.
- You can refine the drink with honey or lemon juice as you wish.
Delicious ginger and carrot soup
This warming soup tastes particularly good in the cold season.
- Peel a 2 cm piece of ginger and chop it into small pieces.
- Peel 250 g of carrots and cut them into thin slices so that they are cooked faster.
- Heat 2 teaspoons of coconut oil in a saucepan and add a peeled, quartered onion.
- Add the carrots to the onions and pour in 800 ml of vegetable broth.
- Let the soup simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add the grated ginger and let the soup simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Puree the soup with a blender.
- Season the soup with salt, pepper and lime juice.
Put ginger as a side dish
Try pickled ginger with sushi or roll it into beef roulades as a special seasoning. Your creativity knows no limits.
- Peel 150 g of fresh ginger and cut thin strips with a peeler. Alternatively, you can cut it into thin slices.
- Put the ginger and 2 teaspoons of salt in a small bowl and let everything steep for at least 1 hour.
- Dissolve 200 g of sugar in 100 ml of white vinegar. Depending on your taste, you can either increase the sugar or vinegar content.
- As soon as the sugar has completely dissolved, boil this mixture.
- Sterilize a screw-on glass by rinsing it with boiling water. Don't forget the lid.
- Put the ginger in the glass and fill it up with the hot liquid.
- Close the jar and after a day you can already eat the pickled ginger.
- Store the jar in the refrigerator. So the ginger lasts for about 3 weeks.
