Cooking ginger tea - how it works
Especially in the cold season, a freshly brewed ginger tea strengthens the immune system. Whether for colds, for prevention or just for pleasure, we will show you how to prepare the hot drink.
What you need to cook a ginger tea
The preparation from fresh ginger is hardly more complicated than to use finished ginger tea bags and works a lot more effectively. You need the following for this:
- A small piece of fresh ginger root (about 2cm tall)
- Hot boiling water
- Optional lemon juice and / or honey
The procedure for cooking ginger tea
Once you have all the ingredients at hand, the preparation continues. We explain step by step what to do.
- Peel the piece of ginger and cut it into thin slices. You can also leave the ginger unpeeled, but then you should wash the piece thoroughly before using it.
- Bring half a liter of water to a boil.
- Put the ginger slices in a cup or jug. If you want to use lemon juice, put some lemon juice on the slices.
- Pour the ginger on the hot water and let the tea steep for at least 10 minutes.
- You can remove the ginger slices after this time or leave them in the tea for longer. The longer the tea brews, the more intense it becomes.
- Add honey at will and the healthy drink is ready.
- Tip: You should only add the honey to your ginger tea after a short steeping period and not at the beginning, otherwise the healthy ingredients of the honey will be destroyed.
