A blue tick on Instagram indicates that an account has been verified and the identity behind it has been confirmed. If you want to verify your own account, this can sometimes be impossible. We explain here why and how you might get a verified account.
Get a blue tick and get a verified account on Instagram
- When you search for famous people or companies on Instagram, you sometimes see a blue tick behind the name. This indicates that the account has been verified.
- At the moment, however, Instagram only verifies accounts of people or companies with a high risk of imitation.
- These are, for example, celebrities like Chester Bennington ("chesterbe") or brands like Nivea ("nivea_de").
- The feature was introduced by Instagram in 2014 and is a consequence of the numerous fake accounts on the social network.
- Unfortunately, as a "normal" user, you cannot currently request verification. Instagram is currently approaching people whose profiles are heavily imitated.
- If you want to show other people on Instagram that you are authentic, Instagram currently recommends linking your profile to your website or Facebook profile, for example.
