Instagram: save but not share pictures
Every other photo can be saved in Instagram by sharing it yourself. But if you don't want that, you can download the pictures in other ways. We show you how it works.
Save Instagram photos without sharing
The Instagram pictures can only be saved on the smartphone via detours. Ultimately, you have several options here:
- Basically, you can save the Instagram pictures simply by taking a screenshot. On the iPhone and iPad, hold down the Home and Sleep buttons for a few seconds. The same applies to most Android devices. Then simply cut out the desired image with an app like "Adobe Photoshop Express".
- Android users can also access the free "InstaSave" app: It lets you download all the pictures that you have "LIKE". Tip: You can easily remove the Like after the download.
- "Gramory" does the same job on the iPhone and iPad. Here you can not only save the images, but also get an extensive Instagram client with all important functions.
- If you have a smartphone with a jailbreak, you can also integrate a download button in the official Instagram app: Install the free tweak "InstaSave" from the Cydia "Big Boss Repo". You will now find a download box on every Instagram post.
Download Instagram images on the computer
If the smartphone methods take too long, you can also download the images on the computer. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Download the free "InstagramDownloader 2.0" and unzip the zip file.
- Start the downloader and enter the name of the Instagram user whose pictures you want to save (see picture).
- As soon as you click on the arrow, the freeware tool saves all download links as a text file in the program folder.
- You can either download the individual images manually or you can let a program like "jDownloader" do the job for you.
The whole thing works similarly via "Instagrabbr.com". Simply enter the user name, select the desired image and save it. The advantage: You do not have to install any special programs.
You can now safely remove your previously shared images. You can read how this works in this practical tip.
