Instagram: Retrieve messages - how it works

Since the last versions, you can send and retrieve messages with Instagram. We'll show you exactly how it works.

Instagram Direct: Send and retrieve messages

With Instagram for Android and iOS, you can now also send and retrieve messages:

• These messages consist of photos or videos that you can send to specific users. So not all of your followers see the content of the message.
• The function is called "Instagram Direct" and can be reached in the free app via the start menu.
• However, you do not have to specifically retrieve messages sent to you. The messages appear automatically in your photo app.

If you no longer want to share your uploads with everyone, you should delete your pictures in Instagram.
