Intel WIDI: the best tips
The wireless display technology from Intel, or WIDI for short, is supposed to save us from the chaotic cable chaos in the home and office. The reception quality of WIDI is similar to that you know from WLAN.
Requirements to use Intel WIDI
Intel's wireless display technology may be very practical, but there are some limitations. You cannot use WIDI on every device.
- In order to be able to use Intel technology, your computer must have an Intel core processor.
- You must use Windows 7 or Windows 8 as the operating system.
- If you want to use WIDI on the tablet, you need an Intel Atom processor.
- You must also be careful when purchasing the receivers to be used. You can only use the wireless display technology on the Intel WIDI-certified receiving devices.
The possible uses of wireless display technology
You can use WIDI privately as well as in the business area.
- Wireless technology is particularly practical, for example, if you organize lectures or conferences more often.
- With WIDI, any speaker can easily transfer their presentation to the big screen without any problems. This avoids the breaks between the individual speakers in order to connect the respective notebooks via cable.
- You also have the option of secure image transmission if you are presenting projects that are not yet intended for the public or the competition. However, this is hardly an advantage over cable transmission.
- Another plus of wireless display technology is that IT managers can also use the Pro-WIDI tool to remotely manage the devices if necessary.
With WIDI from tablet to SmartTV
- At home, for example, you can connect the tablet to the TV.
- Cinch or HDMI can be used to connect the adapter to the television.
- The apps run great on the large display.
- With games you have the problem that the transmission takes a tiny moment, which of course can be fatal for some games.
- The multitasking capability of the wireless display technology is particularly practical.
- For example, you can comfortably surf the Internet on your notebook while the film is running in HD quality on the SmartTV.
Of course, if you want to record a film with your SmartTV, you can. We'll tell you how.
