Internet Explorer 11: Always start in InPrivate mode
If you always want to start Internet Explorer 11 in InPrivate mode, it is not sufficient to activate the entry "Start InPrivate Browsing" on the IE start page. In this case, you only use the private mode in the browser window that opens. If you surf in a second window or open the Internet Explorer after a restart, you are no longer on the web in private mode. We explain how to activate the mode permanently here.
Link Internet Explorer permanently to InPrivate mode
First, pin Internet Explorer to the taskbar. To do this, open Internet Explorer and right-click on the IE icon. Confirm the entry "Pin this program to the taskbar" with one click. With the following steps you connect this link to the InPrivate mode, which always starts when you open the IE with this icon.
- Right-click on the Internet Explorer icon in the task bar.
- In the context menu that is now visible, scroll to the entry "Internet Explorer" and open it again by right-clicking the mouse.
- In the following menu (see picture) click on "Properties".
- In the menu that opens, go to the "Shortcut" tab. There you will find the following entry under "Destination": "C: \ Program Files \ Internet Explorer \ iexplore.exe"
- Now add this entry. Enter a space and "-private" (without the quotation marks) after the last quotation mark. The InPrivate mode is now set as the target of the link; this should look like this: "C: \ Program Files \ Internet Explorer \ iexplore.exe" -private
- Confirm the new setting with OK.
- If you open Internet Explorer via this link, InPrivate is activated, no matter how many windows you open.
- At the entry "InPrivate" in the address bar of the browser you can see that you are surfing the net completely privately.
With InPrivate, however, you are not traveling anonymously on the net. You can achieve this, for example, if you are using the Firefox browser with some add-ons on the web.
