Internet Explorer: Delete add-ons
If you want to delete or deactivate add-ons in your Internet Explorer, proceed as follows.
Step 1: Find add-ons in Internet Explorer
- Start Internet Explorer as usual and click on the gear icon at the top right of the screen.
- From there, select the "Manage add-ons" option. A new window is opening up.
- On the left you will now see the different types of add-ons. This includes toolbars and extensions, search providers, quick information and add-ons for tracking protection.
- Approximately in the middle you will see the "Show" item on the left. Select the "All add-ons" option in the menu. Now all installed add-ons are really visible and can be removed.
Step 2: delete add-ons in Internet Explorer
To remove an add-on, select the desired entry in the list and select one of the available options at the bottom right. These differ depending on the add-on type:
- Toolbars and extensions: All add-ons are listed here that were not installed directly via Internet Explorer, but through other programs on your computer. You can only activate or deactivate them. If you want to delete the add-on, the entire program usually has to be removed via the control panel or one of the tools presented here.
- Search providers: All search engines that have been loaded into IE are listed there. You can easily remove them.
- Quick info: This entry hides, among other things, the automatic translation of websites with Bing, which you can both deactivate and remove.
- Tracking protection: If you have not downloaded a tracking list, this menu item will have no content. If this is the case, you can either deactivate or remove the list.
