Internet Explorer: Update addons
You should update addons in every browser - including IE. We'll show you how it's done.
Update add-ons in Internet Explorer
- Add-ons are usually updated automatically in Internet Explorer. Unlike in Firefox, you won't be notified when an update is available. They are downloaded and installed in the background.
- If you are not sure whether an add-on is actually being updated, you can check this on the manufacturer's website. There you can simply download and install the plug-in again. So you have definitely installed the latest version.
- Programs such as "Java" and "Adobe Reader" usually do not update themselves because they are independent programs that do not consist of just one plug-in. If the programs are updated themselves, the latest version of the plug-ins will also be installed. To do this, you have to search for and execute the update function within the program. Most of the time, you will be notified of the new version and only have to agree to the installation.
- There is no manual update function in Internet Explorer.
