Internet Explorer is the standard browser in Windows. If the IE does not play videos, you may not have installed the correct drivers. This practical tip shows you what you can do about it.
Internet Explorer doesn't play videos - that's why
- First make sure that you have installed the latest version of IE on your PC.
- In order to play videos in the browser, you need the latest version of Adobe Flash.
- Make sure that the add-ons are also activated. In IE, click on "Tools"> "Internet Options" and then under "Programs" on "Manage Add-ons".
- Make sure that the "Shockwave Flash Object" entry is set to "Enabled". If this is not the case, click on the entry and then on "Activate" at the bottom right.
- In some cases it can help if you add the page with the video to the compatibility view. To do this, click on "Tools"> "Compatibility View Settings" and then under "Add Website" then "Add".
- ActiveX filtering may also be active, which is why the video cannot be played. To disable this filtering, click the gear and choose Security> ActiveX Filtering.
- You can also try to clear the IE cache or reset the browser to default settings.
