If you are not sure whether you are surfing at full DSL speed, you should test your internet connection. We'll tell you exactly how this works in this practical tip.
Test your internet connection - this is how you can find out how fast your DSL is
To find out whether you also get the full bandwidth, run the following speed test:
- Before proceeding, close all browser tabs and applications that need the Internet. You should briefly pause a download and update.
- Then open the CHIP Speedtest and click on "Start test".
- Note: If you don't see this button, make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed.
- Then wait until the speed test is completed. In addition to the download speed, the upload speed and response time, i.e. the ping, are also measured.
- After completing the test, you will receive an assessment of your connection, including helpful links.
- Note that the speed test can depend on many factors. Therefore, repeat it several times a day to get a reliable result.
Internet: How to find malfunctions at the provider
If you think there is a problem with your connection, we have the following tips for you:
- First go to the Allestault.de page and enter your provider in the search box at the top right.
- You will then see whether there is currently a malfunction or not.
- This is measured by the reports from other users who have reported problems on the portal.
- If there are comparatively few reports, you should take a look at the official website of the provider.
- The disturbance may also have been communicated via social networks such as Facebook or Twitter.
