Intersnack: These brands belong to the group
The chip giant Intersnack is best known for brands like Chio or funny-fresh. But other well-known companies are also behind the food manufacturer, merged with one another or were bought up.
Intersnack brands - more than just chips
In 1962, Irmgard von Opel founded the Chio brand with her two sons Carlo and Heino. The name originated from the initial letters of their respective names: Carlo, Heino, Irmgard and Opel.
- From 1968, Pfeifer and Langen produced potato chips with the name Chipsfrisch. In 1972 there was a merger with Pfanni - new name: funny-fresh. Most recently, the brands Chio-Chips and funny-fresh merged into a convention group in 1977.
- Since the merger in 1995 with Wolf Bergstrasse - inventor of the Goldfischli brand - Intersnack has been officially called Intersnack Knabber-Gebäck GmbH & Co. KG.
- In 1977 Intersnack acquired the manufacturer Trüller, which specializes in sweet pastries.
- Intersnack cooperated with Ültje in 2000 and Ültje merged with the Intersnack Group in 2008.
- In 2007 Intersnack took over the Austrian chip maker Kelly's. In addition, Intersnack owns 15% of the Irish brand Largo.
- The Pom-Bär brand has also been part of Intersnack since 2007.
- KP Snacks, a British company, bought Intersnack in December 2012.
- In 2013, the snack giant took over the company Salt and Pepper and the associated brands Spreeback and Pauly.
- Snack and smile Company GmbH also belongs to the company and is behind the brands Sun Snacks (Aldi Süd), Feurich (Aldi Nord) and Crusti Croc (Lidl).
