Intermittent fasting - that's how it works
With intermittent fasting, you have several options.
- All forms of intermittent fasting mean that you do not have to eat for a certain amount of time. The body accesses its fat reserves at these food-free intervals.
- Fasting stimulates the metabolism. You will lose weight in the long run. Since you are not on a diet, you do not have to be afraid of the yo-yo effect.
- However, interval fasting like normal fasting is not suitable for everyone. If you suffer from underweight anyway, you should generally avoid fasting, regardless of the form. Under no circumstances should pregnant women fast either.
- You are on the safe side if you ask your doctor before starting interval fasting if he has any objections to this.
- If nothing stands in the way of interval fasting, there are different forms. You will probably have to find out which one is the most suitable for you by trying it out a few times.
- Fasting 16: 8 is relatively easy to carry out. You can eat what you feel like for eight hours a day. For the remaining 16 hours, do without food.
- The 14:10 fasting variant should be a little easier for you at the beginning. As you will probably guess, the fasting period in this form lasts 14 hours. You will satisfy your hunger for the remaining ten hours of the day.
- Those who cannot keep to these times, for example due to unfavorable working hours, best fast according to the 5: 2 method. That means you eat normally five days a week.
- Over the next two days, you drastically reduce your calorie intake. Women should only consume 500 calories on this fasting day. In men, the limit is 600 calories a day.
