Install iOS 10 - Here's how
IOS 10 will be released on September 13th. You can find out how to install Apple's mobile operating system in this practical tip.
Install iOS 10: requirements
If you want to install iOS 10, the first thing you should do is check whether your device receives the update to iOS 10. The following devices are supported:
- iPhone: All iPhones from iPhone 5 can be updated.
- iPad: For iOS 10 you need at least a 4th generation iPad or an iPad mini 2.
- iPod touch: Only the 6th generation iPod touch receives the update.
iOS 10: Install Over the Air
You can wirelessly update iOS 10 completely without a PC or Mac in the following way.
- Start the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Select the menu item "General" and then "Software update".
- The update from September 13 is displayed here.
- Click "Download and Install" below.
- Make sure that your device has more than 50 percent battery during the software update. Alternatively, you can connect it to the power cord.
Install iOS 10 through iTunes
You can also install the update from iTunes. Then you need less free space for the installation.
- Connect your device to a PC or Mac using a Lightning cable.
- Start iTunes.
- Click on the icon with your device above.
- You should now be suggested to install the update.
- If not, click "Check for updates".
