iOS 10: Fix update problems
If you're having trouble installing iOS 10, you're not alone. We'll show you how to fix the update issues and bring iOS 10 to your iPhone or iPad.
Fix update problems on iOS 10
- As with any major iOS update, there are some issues with iOS 10. Fortunately, the most widespread error is still quite harmless. The iPhone or iPad shows the iTunes logo during the update.
- In this case, start your computer and connect the iOS device to the PC using the USB cable. If you start iTunes, the device will be recognized automatically. iTunes will now download the update again and try to install it. Be patient, the process may take a little longer.
- If there is still no progress after 30 minutes, disconnect the device from the computer and reconnect it. If the first attempt did not work, a second attempt helped many users.
iOS 10: Other ways to fix update problems
- If the update is not installed, you have only one alternative in iTunes. If you select the restore option, the most recent backup will be imported. Then you can try the update again.
- If you have another update problem, you can try to abort. Simply hold down the power button and the home button for a few seconds.
- If there is a serious problem that even iTunes no longer recognizes your iPhone or iPad, try starting DFU mode. If that doesn't work either, you should get help from an Apple Store.
