Remove iOS 11 Beta: This is how the downgrade to iOS 10 works
If you want to remove the beta version of iOS 11 from your iPhone or iPad, you can downgrade to iOS 10. In the following practical tip, we will show you how it's done.
iOS 11 Beta: Preparations for the iOS 10 downgrade
The beta version of iOS 11 is currently still in the middle of development. Not all apps run, the battery consumption is increased and crashes can occur again and again. For a stable system, however, you can downgrade to iOS 10 during the beta phase.
- The first thing to do is backup with iCloud. If you created a backup before installing iOS 11 and made hardly any changes since then, the data loss would be extremely low - a new backup is therefore not absolutely necessary.
- Then switch off the "Find my iPhone" function. As long as the function is active, the downgrade cannot begin.
- Also download the latest version of iOS 10 manually. It is currently iOS 10.3.2. On the website of IPSW.me you can select and download the right version for your iPhone or iPad.
Instructions: Downgrade from iOS 11 Beta to iOS 10
- Start iTunes and update iTunes to the latest version if necessary.
- Now connect your iPhone to the computer using the USB cable and put the device in DFU mode.
- If you click the "Restore" button in iTunes, the latest version of iOS 10 will be installed. You can then import a backup if necessary.
- Alternatively, you can downgrade without data loss. To do this, hold down the [Shift] key under Windows and the [Alt] key on the Mac while clicking the "Update" button.
- Now you can select the previously downloaded iOS 10 from the computer and import it as an update on the iPhone or iPad.
