iPad: Use Split View under iOS 11
The practical split-screen function is currently only available on the iPad Pro, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 4. According to Apple, the split screen would be too much of a burden for older devices.
- Open any app on one of the devices mentioned and put your finger on the bottom of the screen.
- Drag your finger up so the dock opens. Below are the Apple apps that are compatible for Split View.
- Now you have to drag the desired app into the middle of the display and position the opened app in the desired position.
- The new app now overlaps the previous app. Depending on the app type, the apps are divided in a ratio of 50:50 or 75:25.
- At the top of the app you will find a narrow line. If you pull the app down a little at this line, both apps are firmly anchored next to each other. With the central dividing line, you can adjust the division if desired.
- Since iOS 11, you can easily move texts and images from app to app in split view mode. If you use Safari and the Notes app in parallel, for example, you can mark the text of a website and drag it into the center of the Notes app.
