iOS 7.1: Manually control Siri - how it works

Apple has given Siri manual control with iOS 7.1. But what exactly does "manual control" mean and what are the advantages? We clarify it.
Manually controlling Siri - that's the reason
- In iOS 7.1, you can now call Siri by holding the Home key while talking.
- After you release the button, Siri will answer and help you directly.
- You can continue to use the "old" procedure: Hold the home button pressed until Siri is opened. Then give Siri a command and the software will automatically recognize the end of your instruction / question.
When is manual control worthwhile?
At first glance, manual control seems superfluous, after all, Siri automatically recognized the end of the command before the update to iOS 7.1.
- However, if you use Siri in a noisy environment, the software often failed to identify the end of your question. This has now been improved so that you can now use Siri in the train or pedestrian zone, for example.
