iOS 7: Facetime calls without video
Since iOS 7, Facetime calls no longer have to be made with a video transmission. A pure audio call is also possible. We'll show you how it's done.
FaceTime Audio: FaceTime calls without video on iOS 7
With "FaceTime Audio", FaceTime has been expanded with a new function. With the you can make calls without video over the mobile data network or via WLAN.
- Open the FaceTime app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Log in (if necessary) with your Apple ID and select the desired contact.
- Scroll down a little and press "FaceTime Audio".
- Alternatively, you can also control the contact via the "Contacts app". There you will find the entry "Facetime" under the person's telephone numbers, next to which you have to press the handset.
- Now the contact is called over the Internet. If you would like to switch on the video transmission at a later time, you will find the "FaceTime" button on the display with a camera symbol.
