iOS 9: use multitasking - how it works
Since iOS 9, you can multitask multiple apps on your iPad at the same time. We'll show you exactly how multitasking works on the iPad and what options are available.
Use multitasking under iOS 9
- For example, open Safari on your iPad and put your finger on the right edge of the screen. Then drag your finger to the center of the display and an app appears in the 3: 1 slide-over.
- Place your finger on the top right corner of the screen and drag it down. Here you will find a selection of all apps that you can show at the edge. If you tap on the left area, the app will be hidden again.
- On more powerful devices, such as the iPad Air 2, you can also use the 1: 1 splitview mode. Show any application on the right and tap the thin dividing line between the two apps in the middle. Now you can use the apps side by side at the same time. The dividing line can be moved to the left and right as required.
iOS 9: Use video and face time via multitasking
- Open any video with Safari or the Videos app and start it. If you now press the home button, the video is placed in a small form on the home screen.
- You can now use your iPad as usual and open other apps. The video always stays in the foreground until you finish it.
- With typical gestures, you can zoom in, zoom out and move the video. If you tap the video, you can put it back in full-screen mode, pause or end it.
